Chapter 11 – Conveyor Assembly Operation and Adjustments
11.1 Conveyor Assembly Layout
The layout of the conveyor assembly is shown in the
illustration on the right. Note the location of the conveyor air
motor lubricator at the lower right side of the illustration
behind the incoming air supply quick-disconnect and above
the air pressure gauge. Conveyor speed adjustments and air
motor lubrication are discussed in the following sections.
Warning
: Exercise extreme caution
around the moving parts of the conveyor.
Do
not
attempt to operate RS4203AB2
with the conveyor guards removed.
The cover for the chain drive assembly is shown on the left
side of the conveyor belt. Check the drive chain once a
month. Lubricate and adjust the chain as necessary.
11.2 Conveyor Air Motor
The conveyor air motor will provide years of trouble free service, however, the drive chain sprockets
should be properly aligned to achieve maximum life from the motor and chain. Misalignment will result in
poor performance, which will shorten the motor’s life. Always check the alignment after servicing and
general maintenance.
11.3 Air Motor Speed Controls
The machine provides adjustable speed controls for the
conveyor air motor. Two flow control valves (shown in the
illustration at right) are located on the lower left side of the
machine (next to the system air pressure gauge).
The flow control valves control both the low speed (single
arrow) and high speed (double arrow) of the conveyor. Turn
the knobs
clockwise
(closing the valve) to reduce the speed of
the conveyor. Turn the knobs
counterclockwise
(opening the
valve) to increase the speed of the conveyor.
11.4 Lubrication
Conveyor air motor lubrication is provided by the lubricator / water
separator assembly located behind the air supply shutoff and lock-out valve
(as shown at right). The internal components of the air motor are lubricated
for life and require no external lubrication.
