14.9 Weekly Preventive Maintenance
Before completing the lockout and tag-out procedures for weekly preventive maintenance, put the
machine into TEST mode. Both voider pairs should be together and closed to allow inspection of the
voider orifice ratio (opening) between the voider plates.
Prior to any maintenance or repair, use the following lockout and tag-out procedures:
•
Disconnect the main power and electrical supplies.
•
Attach power and electrical lockout devices.
•
Tag-out the machine before beginning any maintenance work.
•
Attempt to cycle the machine to ensure it is properly disabled.
Before beginning the weekly maintenance checklist, complete all daily maintenance activities.
Warning
: Ensure all lockout and tag-out procedures have been completed before inspecting the voiders.
14.9.1 Grease lubrication fittings
Apply grease to the following lubrication fittings once each week prior to running the machine. Do not
over-grease these fittings. Excessive grease in these closed units will clog the bearings and cause the
assemblies to run intermittently or to stop completely. Refer to Section 14.7 Mechanical Systems
Lubrication earlier in this chapter for additional information and locations.
___ Voider rotary shaft bearings (2 fittings)
___ Conveyor drive roller bearings (2 fittings)
___ Conveyor idler roller bearings (2 fittings)
14.9.2 Compare inside diameters of voiders
With the voiders closed and together, compare the inside diameters of stationary and movable voiders.
___ The stationary voider paired plate opening should measure.35 to .5 inches ( 8,89 to 12,70 mm).
___ Depending on the initial setup of the machine, the inside diameter of the movable voider paired
plates should be equal to or slightly less than the inside diameter of the paired stationary voiders.
Adjust if necessary.
14.9.3 Inspect voider assembly
___ Check that voider plates are flush and straight (no excessive gap between pairs or bent plates).
___ Check that all four (4) voider tie rods are tight and are of equal length.
___ Check for worn voider center and drive shafts. Replace if needed.
