• Pass the neck band over the head so that the mask is on the user’s chest ready to be
worn.
• Don the airline breathing apparatus, adjust the belt and fasten it around the waist,
positioning the quick-release coupling preferably on the left side.
• Screw the demand valve to the mask, orienting the hose as it results comfortable, and
tighten.
• Wear the mask pulling the arms of the harness as shown in the pictures until it is
confortable and well tightened.
• NEGATIVE PRESSURE TEST. With the mask worn as previously indicated, you can freely
breathe trough the particulate filter. When you feel comfortable block the inlet of
the particulate filter with the palm of the hand and try to inhale. Hold the breath for
few seconds and check that the mask pulls on to the face and the feeling of negative
pressure inside does not disappear. If it does disappear adjust better the harness of
the mask and position better the mask on the face and repeat the test. If the test fails
again you must not enter the contaminated area.
• Test of the demand valve.
a.
Push deeply the red button of the demand valve deeply to make sure that it is
in stand-by mode.
b.
Connect the compressed air line source to the apparatus.
c.
Block the filter with its plug.
d.
Inhale strongly in order to disengage the demand valve from its stand-by
mode.
e.
Take some deeph breaths of different intensity to check that everything works
normally.
• POSITIVE PRESSURE TEST
a.
With the filter blocked, the demand valve connected to the compressed air
source and activated, hold the breath for few seconds and check that you don’t
perceive leakages at the facepiece sealing contour. If leakages occur, tighen the
demand valve connectorbetter, adjust the mask and the harness and check
that the filter plug is well positioned. If the test fails again you should not enter
the contaminated area.
• Audible warning device test. Reduce the pressure of the air line supply. When it drops
below the minimum value of approx. 4,5 bar, the whiste should go. When you increase
the pressure again above the minimum value, it should stop. If the test fails, send the
apparatus for maintenance.
If all the above checks have been positively passed, check that the autonomy of your
compressed air source is consistant with the duration of your mission.
USE
WARNING: since in some cases, before and after proper operation, the apparatus delivers
ambient air filtered from partcles only, THE APPARATUS MUST NOT BE USED FOR PROTECTION
AGAINST GASES.
After wearing the apparatus as above described, if you have to move inside the contaminated
area to reach the compressed air source:
•
Check that the filter is unplugged, but the plug is hanging loose from it.
