• Press the red button of the demand valve completely to be sure that it is in stand-by
mode.
• Reach the compressed air source while breathing trough the filter
The use of the mask Sfera ASB with the filter implies a value of respiratory resistance higher
than that of the masks in negative pressure. Therefore, it is normal to have to exhale in a
robust way to allow the opening of the appropriate valves. For that reason we recommend
the use of the Sfera ASB breathing through the filter only for the time necessary to the
operations required, unable to connect the system to the compressed airline supply
expected in processing.
Once the compressed air source has been reached:
• Unplug the quick coupling and connect your apparatus to the compressed air.
• Now plug the filter checking that the cover is well positioned.
WARNING: When you are connected to the medium pressure air line source, the filter must
be plugged in order to allow first breathe activation of the demand valve.
Now you can start your mission in the contaminated area with the full protection of the
positive pressure.
During the mission always ensure that the airline hose does not become trapped, snagged,
crushed or kinked.
In any case stop the mission and reach an uncontaminated area if:
• You notice any irregularity in the functioning of the apparatus.
• You feel excessive strees or discomfort.
• The audible low pressure whistle activates.
If, the demand valve, for whatever reason, fails to supply air normally, or if the audible low
pressure whistle activates:
• Remove the cover from the particulate filter.
• Disconnect the medium pressure supply hose and plug the coupling on the medium
pressure filter unit.
• Do not remove the mask before an area with uncontaminated athmosphere is
reached.
WARNING: the whistle is generated using the compressed air. If the compressed air is
suddenly and totally excluded, no whistle will be generated. The failure will be in any case
evident from the unavailability of air from the demand valve and will be possible to reach
an uncontaminated area unplugging the particulate filter and breathing safely through it.
Doffing
Warning: do not remove the apparatus until an area with safe and breathable ambient air
is reached.
The user must have been trained for operations with compresed airline equipment with
demand valve, and this unit in particular.
Before removing the mask follow the decontamination procedure indicated by local statutes,
regulations, laws, health and safety guidance, site operating procedures or specialists advice
concerning doffing, cleaning and decontamination and disposal of used filters.
Hold your breath and press the stand-by button of the demand valve.
Remove the mask by loosening the buckles of the harness and pass it over the head.
