Intended use
The fire helmets are solely intended for the following
operations:
fire fighting
any kind of rescue works, except for rescue from height
tasks associated with traffic accidents
all tasks that are included in the task area of a fire fighter,
except, however, for riding a motorbike
Any other use is prohibited.
Depending on the kind of operation, the fire helmets can be
equipped with the corresponding type of visor. The visors are
marked differently according to their intended use (see
Chapter 3.5 on Page 12). They can be used as follows:
The visors are solely intended for use with the fire helmets of
the Dräger HPS 4500 series.
3.4
Approvals
The declaration of conformity lists the European standards and
directives that govern the approval of the fire helmets (see
Page 116 or www.draeger.com/product-certificates).
Furthermore, the fire helmets are approved in accordance with
the following standards and regulations:
Solas, FSS code
The visors are approved in accordance with the following
standards and regulations:
Visors for fire fighting operations: EN 14458:2004
Visors for tasks involving technical assistance:
EN 14458:2004
Visors for special applications: EN 166:2002 or
EN 1731:2007
The PC visors (R62494, R62495)
also comply with the
following filter classes:
UV protection: Class 2 -1.2
Only use the fire helmets with accessories that are explicitly
approved for use with the fire helmet. If the helmet is used with
accessories other than those approved for it, or if other
personal protective equipment is used simultaneously, the
helmet might not entirely comply with DIN EN 443 anymore.
3.5
Explanation of type-identifying marking
and symbols
The type-identifying marking is partly found on the label of the
packaging and partly on the components of the helmet.
