4.1.3 Minimum chimney height
The top of the chimney should be tall enough to be above the air turbulence caused when
wind blows against the house and its roof.

4.2 The connector pipe

Recommended inner diameter
: 6" (152 mm)

If an increaser/reducer must be used (max 6" (152 mm) to 7" (178 mm)), it
must be installed as close as possible the chimney.
4.2.1
Best practices and requisites of the installation code
o
Where passage through a wall or partition of combustible construction is
desired, the installation shall conform to CAN/CSA-B365, Installation Code for
Solid-Fuel-Burning Appliances and Equipment;
o
A flue pipe must never pass through a combustible floor or ceiling or through an
attic, roof space, closet or concealed space;
o
Minimum upward slope towards the chimney: 1/4 in/ft. (20 mm/m);
o
The maximum horizontal run is 10’ (3 m). Do not count the starting elbow;
o
All flue pipe joints must be secured with three screws. Failure to secure them to
each other may cause a fire;
