FUNCTION AND MAINTENANCE
It is essential to carry out a function check on all safety elements before putting the stove into operation
for the first time, as well as during regular stove maintenance. You will be provided with detailed information
on how the unit operates and functions when the unit is handed over. Notable reference is made to
regular maintenance intervals, as this is crucial for the service life of the unit.
3.1 Cleaning and care
Only carry out cleaning and maintenance work on your stove when it is cold and free of embers!
Regular cleaning and care will ensure that you enjoy your DROOFF stove for a long time to come.
3.1.1 Glass surfaces
DROOFF stoves are designed so that the secondary air helps to flush the windows clean. Experience
has shown that the window remains largely clean if it is installed correctly, approved fuels are used and
relevant chimney conditions are met. Nevertheless, it is not always possible to avoid some light soiling.
Incorrect fuels (such as wet wood), constant low-load operation or a chimney draught that is too low or
too high can lead to a severe accumulation of soot on the window. All glass surfaces can be cleaned with
a soft, dry cloth. The dry cleaning sponge from our range of accessories is best suited for cleaning the
firebox window. Please do not treat the soiling with abrasive cloths, scourers or scrubbing agents. This
causes fine (invisible) hairline cracks to form in the window, in which combustion residues are deposited
that are no longer removable or else very difficult to remove.
Do not use liquid cleaners! These are often too aggressive and cannot always be removed
without leaving residues after cleaning. This results in chemical reactions and possibly
damage to the glass ceramic and the glass decor. It will also invalidate your warranty. Be
sure to use the DROOFF dry cleaner from our range of accessories instead.
3.1.2 Painted surfaces
Only remove burnt residues from painted surfaces with a soft, dry cloth – never with an abrasive cleaner,
grease solvent or similar. Please note that the stove is not rustproof despite its painted finish! Overheating
of the stove may cause a slight grey shimmer on the outer surfaces. These surfaces can easily be covered
with our temperatureresistant stove varnish.
3.1.3 Firebox
The firebox must be cleaned regularly and as required. The ash box or pan must also be emptied when
appropriate. The frequency of cleaning depends on the type of wood used and the frequency and
duration of heating.
3.2 Firebox lining
The firebox of your DROOFF stove is made of fireclay or refractory concrete, depending on the model.
Both materials are 100% recyclable. This firebox lining can become black during the initial ignition phase,
but this burns off again while the stove is in use. A light-coloured firebox lining also indicates a sufficiently
high firebox temperature, which is a sign of clean combustion. Slight cracks in the material are possible
due to thermal stress, but this does not represent an impairment of the function.
