3.3 Ash disposal
Use the ash shovel from your fireplace set or a similar tool to remove ash from the firebox. Metal ash
containers that you can connect to a vacuum cleaner are also effective. Make absolutely sure that the
ash has cooled down and no longer contains any embers. Only store ashes in fireproof, non-combustible
containers. Never place this container on flammable or temperature-sensitive surfaces. Ask your specialist
retailer for advice on the appropriate accessories.
Empty the ash box when it is around 50% full into a suitable fireproof metal container. Only
dispose of ash once it has completely cooled. To do this, store the fireproof metal container
containing the ashes in the open air for 48 hours if possible before disposing of it.
Warning! Never pour the ashes into a waste bag or vacuum them out of the combustion
chamber without an intermediate metal ash container. FIRE HAZARD!
3.4 Seal maintenance
Seals on doors and glass windows are subject to wear, especially when under thermal load. We recom-
mend that you check the seals regularly, at least once a year, and have them replaced by your specialist
retailer if necessary.
3.5 Firebox and connector
At least once a year, you should clean the interior of the stove and the connector (flue) thoroughly with a
vacuum cleaner or hand brush.
3.6 Chimney
Have your chimney professionally cleaned by a chimney sweep on a regular basis to prevent a chimney fire.
