General guidelines
The smooth running of your Duco ventilation system is totally dependent on the choice and the
quality of implementation of the duct system! Accordingly, take account of the following guideli-
nes when choosing the installation location.
The unit must be connected to a ducting network before it is put into operation.
This is to prevent you from being able to touch the fan
• Observe all safety instructions set out in this manual
• Always use high-grade materials and seals in order to achieve the best airtightness The entire system is based on proper air-
tight connections and duct routing
• The ductwork is to be installed with the smallest possible number of bends and the least resistance The system is based on a
maximum resistance of 150 Pa
• Take care to ensure that the ducts are free from dents, long screws and extra obstructions on the inside This is detrimental to
proper maintenance and sustainable operation
• The outdoor air supply duct is only used to extract heat with the unit rather than drawing fresh air into the home
• Although the DucoBox Eco is a very quiet system, it is advisable to fit silencers on the ducts coming from the home to the unit in
order to obtain maximum acoustic comfort
• Ducts connected with the outdoor air must be adequately insulated in order to prevent condensation from forming Any ducting
in uninsulated unheated spaces also needs to be insulated
• Install the exhaust duct on the house side (ETA 1 and/
or 2) draining towards the unit in all cases in order to
avoid any build-up of condensation in the duct A great
deal of moisture-laden air can be extracted during
showering or cooking
• You are best choosing the outdoor air supply (ODA) on
the south-facing side so as to draw as much heat as
possible into the unit
• Use the blanking cap supplied (including insulation) to
seal off the unused connection opening
• Take care to ensure that the air inlet is accessible
for any cleaning that may be required A smaller
cross-sectional area bore can actually have a major
detrimental impact on system performance
• Duco advises you to fit a minimum of 40 cm length of
straight ducting before diverting the air flow on the
intake side of the supply

Use at least 1 m of flexible or rigid
silencer.
Rigid = low emission from housing
Flex = low noise from duct
12
Choose a double-walled insulated roof
vent with low resistance.
9
Provide a drip moulding if the outlet
(EHA) is through the wall.
3
Secure linked ducts airtight using
tape, hose clamps, tie-wraps or use a
sleeve with rubber. Do not use screws.
Place a cap on any unused connection
opening.
4
Use rigid thermally insulated ducting for ODA and EHA. A
diameter of 200 mm is recommended for an acoustically
sensitive / long installation. Never use flexible
connections. Avoid unnecessary bends in this duct.
2
Ensure there is sufficient distance between
ODA and EHA for optimum efficiency.
1
Keep resistance down to a minimum.
Avoid as much as possible the use
of curves. Avoid sharp angles. Avoid
bumps and dirt in the ducts.
10
Use brackets
with a rubber
inlay to reduce
transmission of
vibration.
11
Allow sufficient space for the
condensate drain.
14
Hang the unit level.
6
Use flexible hose with a shut-off valve
at each water connection.
5
Locate the power socket directly
above the unit for reasons of splash-
proofing.
13
ETA duct diameter:
Follow the guidelines for maximum airflows per
duct diameter, based on noise generation and
pressure drop:

Take care to ensure that total back pressure
is as low as possible (target ≤ 150 Pa) and air
velocity in each duct is < 3 m/s and < 1.5 m/s in
branch take-offs.
8
Use silencers between rooms to
prevent voices from carrying.
15
For wall mounting: wall with minimum mass
density of 200 kg/m². Plaster blocks or
metal struts are not adequate!
Use a mounting plinth if the wall is not
sufficient.

The correct operation of your Duco ventilation system is entirely dependent
on the choice and build quality of the supply and exhaust ducts!
15 UNMISSABLE TIPS
Has the duct system been optimized? Ask
professional advice from your duct supplier. It
saves you time, ensures quality and provides
energetic advantage for the end user!
