Dynamic Hold Method

Figure 5–20

Dynamic

Hold Method Submenu Diagram

The hold process related to the servo press is split into two

parts. The dynamic hold is executed before the static hold.

The hold process can include one or both of these methods

and both may be disabled.

The dynamic hold method occurs after the weld method

has completed. The dynamic hold method continues the

movement of the horn until a user-specified distance occurs

or until a user-specified force is achieved. Holding allows

the material to solidify (under pressure) before the press
head retracts. Hold method choices are:

• Until Force Reached,

• Distance,

• Disabled

Until Force Reached -

This setting keeps a user-defined

speed on the part until the force of the press reaches the

specified peak force following the weld process. A user

specified maximum time prevents an infinite hold. This

option is only available when using speed motion control.

A user specified maximum time prevents infinite holding

due to an unreachable distance

.

Distance -

This setting determines the distance the press

travels following the weld process. Depending on the mo-

tion control mode, the user defined force or speed will be

applied to the part. A user specified maximum time prevents

infinite holding due to an unreachable distance.

Hold Distance

 - The distance the press head travels

following the weld process.

Dynamic Hold Speed

 - The speed at which the press

head travels until the user specified distance is met.

Max Hold Time

 - The maximum amount of time the

press will apply pressure to the part during the hold

process.

Disabled -

This setting disables dynamic hold and its op-

tions.
