13. TROUBLESHOOTING
Symptom
Paper jams at the entrance of this
machine
Paper alignment is poor
Stitching position and folding position
do not match
Folded crookedly
Paper rides onto the saddle stitching
stopper
Stitching problems
Paper stops at the folding rollers or
press rollers, or paper is ejected
skewed from the press rollers.
After folding, paper is not ejected to
the belt stacker or trimmer smoothly
Paper jams when conveyed to the
folding section
Paper alignment is poor at the
stacker unit
Cause
The paper passage line of the upstream
unit and this machine do not match.
Faulty adjustment of the stitching side
jogger
Faulty adjustment of the back jogger
Incorrect position of the side stitching guide
Faulty adjustment of the stitching position
and folding position
Faulty adjustment of the folding stopper
angle
Poor paper alignment
Stitch and folding blade tip are touching
Faulty adjustment of the folding side guide
Processing speed is too fast
Paper is too thick or too many
(When DC-10/60 is connected)
Incorrect position of the saddle stitching
guide
Faulty adjustment of the clearance at the
folding rollers and the press rollers
Press roller pressure is too strong
Faulty adjustment of the conveyance
pressure.
Paper rides onto the saddle stitching guide
Narrow distance between the folding side
guides
Paper is ejected skewed
Incorrect position of the paper guide wheel
Solution
Adjust this machine to the paper passage
line of the upstream unit.
Perform fine adjustment in the step mode
(Refer to adjustments by the step mode for
each binding mode.)
If paper rides onto the side stitching
stopper, set to a low position. If paper
cannot reach the stopper, set to a high
position (Refer to Figure 2 on page 80.)
Refer to saddle stitching binding mode.
Refer to saddle stitching binding mode.
Set a slow processing speed for the
upstream unit.
Set a slow processing speed for the
collator. Adjust the overlap of the collator to
2 or 4.
(Refer to the instruction manual for the
collator.)
Set the saddle stitching guide low.
(Refer to Figure 1 on page 80.)
Refer to the adjustments of each part for
details of the stitcher head.
If the clearance between the rollers is too
wide for the paper thickness, set smaller. If
too narrow, adjust wider. (Refer to the fine
adjustment menu, and other adjustment
keys.)
Adjust the press roller pressure adjustment
lower. (Refer to Figure 3 on page 80.)
Clean the folding rollers and press rollers.
Basically set a strong conveyance
pressure. If paper is thick and stops before
the ejection roller, set the conveyance
pressure adjustment hook to weak. (Refer
to Figure 3 on page 80.)
Set the position of the saddle stitching
guide to high.
Widen the distance between the folding
side guides (Refer to fine adjustment
menu/folding side guide position fine
adjustment key.)
Adjust the open timing of the stitching side
jogger at Option Menu 1 (Refer to Option
Menu 1).
Adjust the position of the paper guide
wheel. (Refer to “Adjusting the position of
the paper guide wheel when the trimmer is
not connected” of Saddle Stitching Binding
Method.)
