2. Metal components of the appliance should be cleaned using a damp cloth and a mild dish
detergent. Never use abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the metal.
3. Remove the logs carefully.
4. Lift out the piercer and clean underneath.
5. Clean the area inside the burner. Be very careful when doing so, because the top edges of the
burner may be very sharp.
6. Dust the logs gently.
7. Make sure that all parts of the appliance are returned to their proper operating positions by
following assembly instructions. Ensure the logs and the piercer are installed properly (see
Figure 17). The top surface of the piercer should be level. If it is higher on the left end, then
turn it around and place it back in place again.
8. Check for leaks by installing a fuel canister into the appliance and letting it sit for five minutes.
Check for leaks in the areas shown in Figure 14 before igniting the fuel.
