Kelvin Probes
9 Kelvin Probes
Kelvin Probes provide easy and simple testing.
Current and voltage connections where joined inside single cable having thus no
need to use heavy current cables.
Measurement is performed by 10 A (15 m cable) or 20 A (9 m cable) current. In
case higher current is given RMO will limit it to value of 15 A or 25 A maximally.
During test it is important to push enough Kelvin Probes to provide proper contact.
Otherwise RMO will interrupt test and report error.
It is also important to mind proper placement of contacts to the measured object
(sense ones must be inside the loop closed by current ones). Any error will result
in wrong test results.
9.1 Connecting the Kelvin Probes to RMO and Test Object
Sense
pins
Current
pins
Turn off RMO and plug in the Kelvin Probes to connector on the RMO’ s front
panel.
Connect the Kelvin Probes to the test object in such a way that the sense pins
are situated as close as possible to R
X
, and in between the current pins. That
way, both the cable’s and the pins’ typical contact resistance is largely
excluded from the resistance measurement.
