5. TENS is a symptomatic treatment and as such suppresses the sensation of pain which would otherwise serve as a
protective mechanism.
6. Electronic monitoring equipment (such as ECG monitors and ECG alarms) may not operate properly when TENS
stimulation is in use.
7. This device should be kept out of the reach of children.
8. Isolated cases of skin irritation may occur at the site of electrode placement following long-term application.
9. Effectiveness is dependent upon patient selection.
10. Some patients may experience skin irritation or hypersensitivity due to the electrical stimulation or electrical
conductive medium. The irritation can usually be reduced by use of an alternate conductive medium or alternate
electrode placement.
Precautions
This therapy must be used cautiously in the presence of any of the following conditions:
• When there is a tendency to hemorrhage following acute trauma or fracture.
• Over the menstruating uterus.
• Where sensory nerve damage is present or in any case where there is a loss of normal skin sensation; this
includes areas desensitized by medication.
• Do not use in general area where high-powered, high-frequency transmitting surgical units are being operated.
Short wave diathermy should not be turned on or used at the same time as this Dynatron device.
• Do not use the same power outlet or line with a whirlpool and certain traction machines. In areas which are
carpeted and static electricity is present, it may be necessary to use a conductive mat to remove any static charge
from the operator.
Adverse Reactions
Skin irritation and burns beneath the electrodes may occur with Microcurrent treatment.
NOTE: When using Microcurrent Frequencies and intensities, it is extremely unlikely that a burn may occur.
However, this possibility exists under certain circumstances. For example, if a high current setting is combined
with poor electrode quality and/or high current density (small current delivery area). Monitor the patient’s comfort
throughout the treatment and change treatment settings if the patient finds the treatment intolerable.
