DynaWrite Reference Guide
New (Alt + N).
Selecting this button opens the
Edit Word
menu. In this
menu, you are able to enter a new dictionary item and define its specific
attributes. Be sure to create new dictionary entries for words, names and
multiple-word phrases that you use often so that these items will be available
through DynaWrite’s rate enhancement features.
Delete (Alt + D).
The
Delete
button erases the currently highlighted
dictionary entry. When this button is selected, a confirmation window will
appear, asking you to confirm that you want to delete the item. Be careful,
once a dictionary entry is deleted, you cannot get it back.
Edit (Alt + E).
Selecting this button opens the
Edit Word
menu, where you
may make changes to the currently selected dictionary entry. You can make
changes to the actual item, or to its specific part of speech. In this menu,
you may also edit the item’s morphological details and its frequency of use.
Save (Alt + S).
Selecting the
Save
button in this menu saves the entire
contents of the DynaWrite dictionary and your customized abbreviation
expansions (see
Menu 1.4: Abbreviation Expansions
for more information) to
the DynaWrite’s flash memory. Because this procedure prevents data loss in
the event of a device failure, it is recommended that you periodically back up
your dictionary this way. The back up process takes a few minutes,
however, so it is not necessary to select the
Save
button every time you edit
or add a dictionary item.
Dictionary
. While all dictionary entries are stored in the full DynaWrite
dictionary, DynaWrite also includes a user dictionary so that the entries you
create and customize are easier to find in the
Dictionary
menu. When you
create a new dictionary entry, it will be stored in both the full and user
dictionaries. Creating dictionary entries for words and phrases you use often
allows the word prediction features to select these items and prevents them
from being interpreted as misspellings. The
Dictionary
group box allows you
to view either the
Full
DynaWrite dictionary (Alt + F) or the smaller
User
dictionary (Alt + U).
Close (Alt + C).
This button closes the
Dictionary
menu and returns you to
the
Tools
menu.
