4.2.4 Battery Assembly / Replacement
4.2.4.1 Battery Disassembly
The battery locking latch is located on the right side of the blower when it stands in front of you. Press the latch to
release the battery from the unit. Make sure that the battery does not fall down. Remove the battery.
See Figure 9.
4.2.4.2 Battery Assembly
Lead the battery diagonally with the contacts to the blower connection. Make sure that the battery is in the battery tray and
that the contacts of the battery and the connections on the blower are in contact. Insert the battery so that the battery and
the battery locking button are audibly and noticeably connected. As a precaution, check that the battery is firmly inserted
in the battery compartment.
See Figure 10.
Important: Damage to the battery due to short circuit possible!
The battery may be damaged by a short-circuit. The battery must always be placed in such a way that the con-
tacts do not come into contact with metal or other materials that could cause a short-circuit.
Never attempt to disassemble the battery.
4.2.5 Battery Charging
Important: The battery can only be charged in the corresponding charging station from e-breathe. In addition,
the battery can only be charged if it is intact and not damaged.
If you are not using the charger, disconnect it from the power supply. Protect the charger from sunlight, direct
heat radiation, dust, dirt and moisture.
4.2.5.1 The correct mains voltage of the power supply must be checked. The battery voltage of the power supply unit
must match the mains voltage.
4.2.5.2 If the voltage is correct, connect the power supply unit to the power supply.
4.2.5.3 Insert the battery into the charging station. Make sure that the contacts of the battery meet the plugs of the
charging station. Be careful while inserting the battery so that neither the battery nor the charging station are da-
maged.
4.2.5.4 Wait for the charging process to proceed. As long as the green LED on the charging station flashes, the battery
is in charging mode. As soon as the green LED stops flashing, the battery is fully charged.
After charging, remove the battery and disconnect the mains adapter from the power supply when it is no longer in
use.
4.2.5.5 If you additionally want to check the capacity of the battery, you can mount the battery in the blower, switch
on the device and read the capacity of the battery in the display.
Batteries that are stored should be recharged first.
If the batteries are stored for more than 6 months, they should be fully recharged in the meantime.
Important: The charging station (incl. power supply) must also be completely intact before it can be operated. If
the power supply unit is damaged, it cannot be used under any circumstances! The charging station can only be
used in closed rooms. During charging, the power supply unit should not be covered, located near heat radiation
or exposed to direct sunlight.
4.2.6.1 Ensure that the breathing hose has no cracks or holes and is completely intact. Also check the seals at the hose
connections. If the hose is not completely intact, do not use it.
4.2.6.2 Screw the round thread connection of the breathing air hose clockwise onto the yellow union nut of the blo-
wer. Make sure that the hose does not twist. See Figure 1.
4.2.6.3 Ensure that the breathing hose is securely and firmly connected to the blower to prevent the ingress of am-
bient air.
4.2.6.4 To remove the breathing hose, unscrew the round thread connection anti-clockwise from the yellow union nut.
4.2.6 Breathing Hose Assembly / Replacement
Read the instructions for use enclosed with the head piece carefully.
4.3 Check Before Use
The following tasks should be performed before using the PAPR.
1. Selection of the system components according to the activity and the required protection class.
- Filter, breathing hose, breathing connection and blower unit.
2. Performance of a careful visual inspection of all components and, if necessary, replacement of damaged parts
- Check the breathing hose for cracks and intactness. Also check the seals on the connections.
- Check the gaskets /sealing edge of the filter. Check the condition and intactness of the filter medium.
- Check the intactness of the seal at the filter box at the thread inlet.
- Check the filter sealing surface of the mounting on the blower unit for damage.
- Check the blower unit and the battery to make sure they are intact and not damaged.
Also refer to the enclosed instructions for use of the filters and the breathing connection.
3. Service Date/Maintenance
- Switch on the blower and check the entered date of the last service/maintenance in the system information menu.
4 Checking the Battery Status
- Mount the battery into the blower and turn it on. You can read the battery capacity on the display. It is recommended
to work only with a fully charged battery.
5. Checking the Filter Capacity
- Switch on the blower with the filters to be used and check the filter capacity on the display.
Note: The Head Piece should be connected to ensure that the measurement value is not falsified.
- If the available capacity is insufficient, replace the filters.
6 Checking the airflow and the warning devices
A functional test can be performed prior to use with a test tube from e-breathe. Check that the minimum airflow rate
is still reached and that the warning device is fully functional.
