2. Remove:
• valve cotters
Attach a valve spring compressor and attach-
ment between the valve spring retainer and
the cylinder head to remove the valve cotters.
CHECKING THE CAMSHAFT
1. Check:
• cam lobes
Pitting/scratches/blue discoloration → Replace.
2. Measure:
• cam lobe dimensions

Out of specification → Replace.

1. Check:
• rocker arm
Damage/wear → Replace.

(0.9915 ~ 0.9927 in)
(1.1618 ~ 1.1657 in)

2. Check:

Blue discoloration/excessive wear/pitting/
scratches → Replace or check the lubrica-
tion system.
3. Check:
• camshaft lobe
