5.9 CI, High-speed incremental value counter
All devices with DC inputs apart from EASY802-DC-SWD enable high-speed
up and down counting on a rising or falling edge. The counting operation is
independent of the cycle time.
You can set a lower and higher setpoint value as comparison values for the
incremental counter function block, as well as a start value.
There are 2 incremental counter available.
The maximum counter frequency for easy800 standard is 3000 Hz and
5000 Hz for EASY806-DC-SWD.

Example of a high-speed incremental counter
Figure 119:Wiring the function block coils
The count inputs of function block CI01 are already permanently assigned to
device inputs I1 and I2. The coils of the function block are connected directly
here to the device inputs.
→
Square wave count pulses are required to ensure a 1:1 mark to
space ratio.
The signals of channels A and B must be offset by 90°
otherwise the count direction will not be detected.
→
Note that the digital inputs I1 to I4 are permanently assigned to
the incremental counter function blocks provided:
•
I1: Counter input for counter CI01, channel A.
•
I2: Counter input for counter CI01, channel B.
•
I3: Counter input for counter CI02, channel A.
•
I4: Counter input for counter CI02, channel B.
