6 Status messages
The status light emitting diodes (LEDs) (
Figure 1, page 9) indicate the
operating states.
Internal and external device faults or process errors “ERR” (e.g.: overcurrent,
imbalance, phase failure) are indicated by a red LED, while a yellow LED
shows clockwise or counterclockwise operation.
Internal faults cannot be acknowledged. They are stored in the device and
will eventually prevent the equipment from being started at all.
When the EMS2 detects a fault, the explosion-proof motor is switched off
safely and the feedback relay is actuated. The fault can also be diagnosed
using the status LEDs.
Depending on the status, an alarm is also provided via the relay output
(terminals 95 / 96 / 98).

There are four LEDs on the front of the EMS2 motor starter which display
the current device status.
