Application
The Varioton EV 11 is a high-volume compact signal generator with good directional effect. The chosen materials and the
construction of the device enable outdoor use – even in the case of adverse ambient conditions.
The operator may choose between 7 different signalling tones, a 3-tone gong, and voice transmission. Make the
adjustment at the device or externally via potential-free contacts.
Upon remote selection the device is continuously connected to supply voltage. The distance between the selector
switch and an EV 11 depends on the cross-section and the quality of the control wire (see Technical Data).
Construction
The device consists of a power supply, a tone generator, an amplifier and a sound converter. The housing consists of see
water resis tant aluminium.
The surface is epoxy-coated. All outer screws and the loudspeaker bracket are made of stainless steel. The electronics
inside the IP55 housing has been especially treated to withstand humidity.
The signalling device is very installation friendly. To connect power, open lid widely or remove completely. The horn
loudspeaker may be turned and swung.
Recycling
The device may be completely recycled as electronic waste. Upon dis assembling the device, the plastic, metal and
electronics components must be disposed of separately.
Speech announcements
In order to make public announcements via the EV 11 loudspeaker, the NF microphone wire must be connected to
terminals 2.1 and 2.2. To avoid noise, use NF sheath wire. When the supply voltage is on and terminals 5.1 and 5.2
are connected, the microphone (which con tains a pre-amplifier set to fit the NF input) may be used for loudspeaker
announcements.
Adjustment notes

Sound pressure:
Use the P2 volume control to adjust the sound pressure level for all tones.
Full turn right: max. sound pressure level
Full turn left: min. sound pressure level
The gong sound pressure level can be adjusted by means of volume control P5.
