6.3. AC Installation
6.3.1. Check AC Isolators are off
1.
Switch off the AC 3 Pole Isolator (if fitted).
6.3.2. Remove panels (if fitted)
1.
Remove the Cover Fixings and put to one side.
2.
Remove the clear plastic AC Insulating Cover.
6.3.3. Fit cable
1.
Fit the appropriate cable gland in the top of the cabinet.
2.
Pass the AC supply cable through the cable gland from the top, into the cabinet.
Leave some slack on the cable inside the cabinet to avoid strain on the AC
switch disconnector connections.
3.
Ensure that the earth conductor is 30-50 mm (1¼ - 2 inches) longer than the live
and neutral conductors.
4.
Whilst maintaining the slack in the cable, tighten the gland on the cable, applying
just enough grip to prevent the cable moving.
Do not over-tighten.
6.3.4. Prepare cable
1.
Strip the individual wires to bare 8mm (approx) of the conductor.
2.
Fit appropriate crimps to bare conductor ends to suit termination method, ensure all
strand are captured (single/double ferrules).
Ensure that the ferrule fits over all the strands of wire.
6.3.5. Terminate the cable
1.
Terminate Earth, Neutral and Live conductors to the terminals as shown. Refer to the
AC Installation section for the Power Box type.
6.3.6. Test
1.
Check no rectifiers are inserted.
2.
Check the wiring of the supply cable.
3.
Perform electrical insulation and continuity tests.
4.
Perform earth loop impedance test.
5.
If it is necessary to connect the system supply cable to the AC distribution board, re-
check first that the outputs of the protective devices are isolated.
6.3.7. Refit panels (if required)
If it is not required to continue the installation work then re-fit the distribution section
clear plastic insulation panel and the distribution front panel.
