NOVA LBS MECHANISM INTERFACE OPTIONS
Control-Powered Interface
The NOVA LBS Load Break Switch has a power through control interface
and is fully operational with Eaton's LBC control equipped with a
switched power supply required to drive the mechanism, interface
circuitry and a fully shielded 19-pin cable. The power interface through
the control includes a 19-pin receptacle on the LBS Load Break Switch
and internal heaters (for humidity control), powered through the control
on 24V DC.
The LBC control can be powered from 85 to 265 VAC via an auxiliary
power supply (commonly a TP power supply). The power supply board
located in the control converts the input voltage to 24 Vdc for driving
the opening coil and powering the opening and closing spring-loading
motor.
A DC-DC converter converts the control voltage from 24V DC to 12V DC
to power the communication devices.

transformer.
The power supply board also houses the voltage monitoring and
conditioning circuits that protect the battery from faults and provide
tripping/closing operations without AC power. In the absence of AC
power to the electronic control, the control battery will provide
tripping/closing operations. The NOVA LBS Load Break Switch and the
control system are capable of exceeding one thousand operations on
battery power alone.
In the absence of voltage to power the electronic control and the
absence of power from the control batteries, the NOVA LBS Load Break
Switch can be opened manually by using the opening lever. The NOVA
LBS Load Break Switch can also be closed by means of the closing lever,
which needs to be operated 7 times to charge the spring and close the
NOVA LBS switch.
