l
In a common battery system, all UPMs are powered from one common battery source. In a separate battery
system, each UPM is powered from separate battery sources.
l
UPSs in distributed bypass and parallel systems must use a separate battery system for each UPS.
l
On a UPS configured as an Input Output Module (IOM), requirements for bypass input wiring, termination,
conduit, and bypass breaker are not applicable.
l
In these configurations, an FI-UPM is always designated as UPM 4.
If the power rating listed on the nameplate of the installed UPS is not found in the following tables, wire the
UPS using the fully rated specifications. Otherwise, calculate the required wire, conduit, and breaker sizes
using the following guidelines in addition to those already listed in paragraph 3.2.3:
l
Select wire size according to the UPS nameplate.
l
Do not use wire larger than the largest size listed in Table 3-7 through Table 3-10.
l
Use terminal recommendations from Table 3-19 through Table 3-21.
l
Size and number of conduits must not exceed those listed in Table 3-23.
l
Select overcurrent protection input, battery, and output breakers according to the UPS nameplate rated for
either 80% or 100%.
l
Follow all applicable NEC and local codes.
For three or four UPM external wiring requirements for 480V models, including the minimum AWG size of
external wiring, see Table 3-7 for installations using a common battery system or Table 3-8 for installations
using a separate battery system. Wire sizes listed are for copper wiring only. Because of the future
upgradability to a fully rated 480V 900 kVA UPS with the addition of the FI-UPM, the UPS wiring is specified for
900 kVA in Table 3-7 and Table 3-8.
For two UPM external wiring requirements for 480V models, including the minimum AWG size of external
wiring, see Table 3-9 for installations using a common battery system or Table 3-10 for installations using a
separate battery system. Wire sizes listed are for copper wiring only.
For three or four UPM external wiring requirements for 415V, 400V, and 380V models, including the minimum
AWG size of external wiring, see Table 3-11, Table 3-13, or Table 3-15 for installations using a common battery
system. For installations using a separate battery system, see Table 3-12, Table 3-14, or Table 3-16. Wire sizes
listed are for copper wiring only. Because of the future upgradability to a fully rated 825 kVA UPS with the
addition of the FI-UPM, the UPS wiring is specified for 825 kVA in these tables.
