Sonix 350-d Technical Manual
3.4.8 Fusing
Sonix 350-d is equipped with two fuses on the internal
48 V dc rail to protect the unit:
•
External 10 A time delay, anti-surge cartridge fuse
Size: 5 x 20 mm, user replaceable
•
Internal 10 A thermal cut-off, rated at 152°C, not user
replaceable.
The external fuse failing will cause the Red fuse
indicator to illuminate, whereas failure of the thermal
fuse will cause the unit to fail to power up in any way.

The thermal fuse is not replaceable and if operated, the 350-d
unit needs to be replaced.
4 Setup and Configuration
Sonix 350-d unit does not have any external switches
nor jumper links to set. It contains a set of internal
jumper links LK1 and LK2 which are accessible upon
opening the unit – see section 4.1.
All unit configuration is done via the SAS application.
Correct configuration of settings is required to ensure
fault-free and correct operation of 350-d unit within the
PA/GA system.
Initial amplifier configuration should be completed
during the system build as part of FAT/SAT procedure.
The Sonix Administration Software provides facilities to
export/import current configuration which can be used
to duplicate existing configurations onto replacement
units.
Replacement units come pre-configured with a general
setup used for quality and functionality testing and
should be reconfigured as appropriate on first use.
Typical PA/GA systems have more than one amplifier
present, it is not practical to pre-configure replacement
units before shipping as exact replacements.
Please refer to
SAS Product Manual
for details on how to
import, export or change the settings.
4.1 Audio Gain
LK1 and LK2 set the gain for the audio broadcasts and
are usually both fitted during the initial quality test of the
unit. The gain values are presented in the table below:

4.2 Unit ID / Associated Zone
As with most Sonix units, each 350-d present in the PA/
GA system needs to have a unique ID. This allows each
unit to be uniquely recognised and monitored by the
2Mx and SAS.
The identifier for 350-d units consist of two parts:
Identifier
Assignment
Possible value
range
Unit ID
Sets the zone that the unit will respond
to
1 – 30 & 31*
Sub-Zone
Sets the secondary ID for identifying
multiple amplifiers in the same zone
1 – 15

*An amplifier configured with a zone number of 31 is called
All-Call amplifier and has different zone responses. Refer to 5.4.1 for
detailed operation of the All Call amplifier.
As the table shows, the Sonix PA/GA system can cover
up to 30 separate zones. For details on zoned operation
see Audio broadcast.
