4.6 Message playback
The playback depends on the connection of the unit into
the system.
4.6.1 Connected via the IO bus
In most situations the message playback will start
automatically if the system is quiescent or the unit has a
higher priority to override the current broadcast.
If the user has already terminated the call the unit will
return to idle after broadcasting the message.
4.6.2 Connected via isolated audio and key lines
The Pbx is connected using a two pair cable to connect
audio and control lines to an IO Tu instead of using the
RJ45 connectors and CAT6 cabling. When the unit
enters playback the control lines become active and the
recorded message is relayed over the audio pair.
A Unit using the isolated audio and key lines connections
has no information when to hold/queue a message.
Therefore, recorded messages will automatically enter
playback and the priority of the Pbx message is now set
by the priority of the IO Tu.
A message will only be broadcast if the priority of the IO
Tu is higher than the current system priority.

This connection relies on the IO Tu to be configured correctly for
both priority and the appropriate inputs to be enabled.
4.6.3 Chime
The unit has the facility to play a pre-announcement
chime before the message. The chime played will
depend on whether the messages has been auto-
elevated to an important message.
•
Routine message chime – Set by configuration to
play no chime or a pre-loaded single, double or triple
“bong” chime.
•
Important message chime – Set by configuration to
play no chime or a 1 of 3 pre-loaded “bleep” chimes.

It is possible to have some custom chimes loaded into the unit,
please contact Eaton for further information.

A holding tone (a short bleep every sec) will be relayed over the
telephone if the message has been queued.
