4.7 Stopping unwanted broadcasts
To ensure no unwanted messages are broadcast over
the PA/GA system, the Pbx provides a monitor feature
that allows for an external speaker to monitor messages
as they are recorded live and a key line to cancel/abort
any unwanted messages. The cancel indicator will show
red while the key line is active.
4.7.1 Monitor speaker
The audio output for monitor speaker has been set to
drive a maximum 2W, 48V loudspeaker. It is acceptable
to connect a low power 100 V loudspeaker to this
connection, it will be under-driven but functional.
4.7.2 Message abort
If a message is aborted, either by the user pressing
Hash during record or by an operator using the message
monitor and abort feature, a prompt tone and optional
voice prompt is relayed to the user. This informs them
that their message will not be broadcast on the system.

The abort announcement if loaded will follow the abort tone (a
series of bleeps) relayed over the telephone at the start of recording.
4.8 Other features
4.8.1 VOX sensitivity
The unit relies on a VOX (voice operated switch) to
maintain the recording of a message. The output level
from telephone system to telephone system may vary
and require this setting to be adjusted to improve the
user experience of the unit. Low output level from the
telephone will require the sensitivity to be increased,
however too much sensitivity on the VOX circuit will
prevent the recording from stopping until the maximum
recording time has been reached.
Inside the unit the sensitivity is set by component R229
and is turned clockwise to increase the sensitivity of the
VOX circuit.
4.8.2 Unit monitoring
The unit monitors the following internal circuits for
reporting to the SAS software as well as triggering the
general fault output. Any faults still present after reset
will be retriggered and displayed by SAS and the general
fault output.
•
Internal audio routing fault
•
Internal control signalling fault
•
Configuration fault
•
Memory fault
•
Port 1 audio fault
•
Port 2 audio fault
•
Port 1 data fault

Some faults may need a fault reset applied to the unit either
from the 2Mx or via the fault panel button.
