10-8-2010 5 ebode IR LINK B
Remove the paper backing from one of the IR Emitters, exposing the adhesive surface.
Apply the Emitter directly onto the centre of the sensor “window” on one of your
components.
Note: The Emitters have self-adhesive tape on the back. Use this to stick them onto the IR
eye of your equipment. This should be done very carefully and precisely. Test the position
of the IR Emitters first, before you finally stick them onto the eye.
Step 4: Place a 9 Volt battery (EN22 or PP3) to the battery connector of the IR Hub circuit.
Be sure to observe correct polarity!
ATTENTION: If you are only using one appliance, then you do not need to use the
additional IR Emitters. Never remove these from the wire! Just dress up the wire and leave
close to the Hub.
7. Operation
Normally your ebode IR Link B Receiver will be in a “sleep” mode to maximize battery life.
When in sleep mode, the range between it and your handheld remote is limited to
approx. 4 meter or less.
To activate the system, simply point your remote at the ebode IR Link B IR Receiver from a
nearby location and press one of the buttons. The LED in the front of the receiver will flash
to confirm reception and that the unit is activated to full sensitivity. When activated, the
IR Link B will operate up to a distance of 4 – 8 meters over an angle of ± 30 degrees off
axis. The ebode IR Link B will automatically go back into “sleep” mode after approx. 1
minute.
8. How to avoid and solve possible problems
Although the ebode IR Link B is equipped with proprietary eIR
2

TM
(pronounced Irex)
Technology, which guarantees a high level of immunity of InfraRed noise of direct sunlight,
CFL lighting and Flat Panel TV’s (including Plasma, LCD and LED), in rare cases, the IR
Receiver may have to be moved to a different location if the unit is picking up
unexpected interference. This interference may, in severe cases, prevent the system from
working. You can identify interference when the InfraRed Emitters are lit or blinking, even
when you’re not using a remote control transmitting at the time.
After repositioning, check to see if the ebode IR Link B operates the satellite Receiver or
other components. If the ebode IR Link B still does not work, reposition the IRED Emitter(s). It
may not be located directly over the component’s InfraRed receiving "window". Consult
the owner's manual of the unit or the manufacturer for the exact location of the InfraRed
"window".
