Drive Shaft (Lower)
IMPORTANT
Lower and upper drive shaft must be lubricated with high tempera-
ture automotive grease every 25 hours of operation, otherwise
drive shaft assembly overheating and failure can result.
1. Loosen two clamping bolts (A) and remove locator screw (B).
2. Remove gear case assembly from lower drive shaft housing.
3. Remove lower flex drive cable, wipe clean and apply a thin coating of
1/2 oz. [15 ml] of high temperature automotive grease.
4. Install flex drive cable making sure inner lower flex cable engages
into the upper drive shaft mount.
Drive Shaft (Upper)
1. Remove coupler from upper drive shaft assembly by loosening
clamping screw (C) and removing set screw (D).
2. Remove upper flex drive cable, wipe clean and apply a thin coating
of 15 ml (1/2 oz.) of high temperature automotive grease.
3. Install flex drive cable. Make sure that the flex cable engages into the
clutch mount and also into the coupler mount.
4. Install set screw (D) and tighten clamping screw (C).
5. Align locator hole in gear case with hole in lower drive shaft housing
and install gear case.
NOTE
Locator holes will not line up until lower flex drive cable is properly
engaged in inner square socket of gear case.
6. Install locator screw (B) and tighten. Tighten clamping bolts (A).
