EXHAUST
SYSTEM
Spark Arrestor Screen
Level 2.
Tools Required: Cross Head Screwdriver. 20mm (3/4in.) spark plug
deep socket. Soft metal brush. Wooden carbon scraper.
Parts Required: Spark arrestor screen P/N 14586240630,
gasket P/N 14586642031.
1.
Remove spark plug and engine cover see "Cooling System Clean-
ing " page 19.
2.
Place piston at Top Dead Center (TDC) to prevent carbon/dirt
from entering cylinder.
3.
Remove spark arrestor cover (A), exhaust diffuser (B), gasket (C)
and spark arrestor screen (D) from muffler. Replace screen if
plugged with carbon deposits.
4.
Install spark arrestor screen, gasket, diffuser and cover.
5.
Be sure gasket seals muffler spark arrestor screen to muffler.
6.
Install engine cover and spark plug.
ADJUSTING
CARBURETOR

GENERAL
Emission Models (With Limiter Caps)
Level 2.
Tools required: Screwdriver, tachometer (Echo P/N 99051130017).
Parts required: none.
NOTE
Every unit is run at the factory and the carburetor is set in compli-
ance with EPA Phase 1 and California Emission Regulations. In
addition, the carburetor is equipped with HI and LO needle
adjustment limiters that prevent settings outside acceptable limits.
Adjustment Screws
Idle Speed (A)
Control throttle opening at idle.
Low (LO) Speed (B)
Controls amount of fuel at low speed and
supplementary fuel for smooth progression from
idle to high speed.
Hi (HI) Speed (C)
Controls amount of fuel at full throttle
Before Adjustment
Check that:
• Air filter is clean and properly installed.
• Spark arrestor screen is free of carbon
• Blower pipes are installed
