WARNING
Edger operation may scatter ground
debris that can cause unstable or slippery
footing, and increase the risk of slips and
falls. Always maintain proper footing and
balance while operating edger. Stop unit
if necessary, and remove excessive debris
from work path before continuing.
• ALWAYS
maintain control using a secure, wrap-
around, two-handed grip when operating the
power edger. If the edger strikes a buried object,
it may kick up and out of the edging cut forcefully,
causing serious injury.
• NEVER
operate with unit on left side of operator.
Use only on right side of body to keep operator out
of edger debris flow.
• ALWAYS
maintain a stable, balanced stance, and
use extra care when walking on uneven, slippery,
or sloping surfaces.
• ALWAYS
use extreme care when walking on
wet surfaces. Wet surfaces reduce traction, and
increase the risk of slips and falls.
• ALWAYS
be aware of ground and walkway
conditions in the work area, and be prepared to
maintain balance and footing when conditions
change.
• ALWAYS
check edging area for all potential
hazards before edging, and remove objects that
can be thrown or cause kick-out.
• NEVER
edge where the cut line passes directly
over buried hazards such as sprinkler pipes,
electric wiring, gas lines, or other similar hazards.
• NEVER
operate edger in any area where electric
extension cords are on the ground.
• NEVER
use edger in gravel, rocky soil, or in areas with hard ground cover
such as decorative rocks.
• NEVER
attempt to clear debris build-up from debris shield by tapping shield
against the ground.
• ALWAYS
shut engine off, wait for blade to stop, and disconnect spark plug
wire. Remove debris with a small non-scratching scraper. Wear gloves to
protect hands from contact with sharp edges and hot surfaces.
