Troubleshooting
Problem
Possible Cause
Possible Solution
Ethernet connectivity
problems
The 9502 Ethernet chip is
10BaseT and some routers and
other devices may have problems
if set to 100BaseT or auto-
negotiate
Configure the user device for 10BaseT
Problems with remote
control SMS when sending
from cell phone
The Inmarsat network does not
interconnect for SMS with all
cellular carriers. Some only work
in one direction.
Test SMS from cell phones to BGAN
before deploying to verify
interconnectivity.
Alternatively, use another BGAN terminal
to send and receive SMS.
Problems with remote
control SMS
Most remote SMS problems are
caused by configuration or syntax
problems.
Verify the UT has remote SMS enabled.
Verify you are using the correct password.
If the white list is configured, verify you
are initiating messages from a device with
an allowed number.
Check the syntax of the SMS against the
SMS Remote Control Feature User Guide.
Spaces are used as delimiters between
parameters and must be used correctly.
Some parameters require double quotes,
e.g. APN such as “bgan.inmarsat.com”
Cannot access or control the
unit
Forgotten admin password.
Invalid configuration.
Reset to factory defaults: Press and hold
the small blue button next to the SIM card
while powering off the UT.
Note this is only supported in Release
5.9.6.1 and above.
Note this function is blocked if enhanced
security is active.
No SIM error
No SIM installed.
Faulty SIM card.
Dirty SIM contacts.
Check the SIM card.
Remove the card and clean it with a pencil
eraser or soft cloth and ensure the
contacts are free and clear of dirt, debris
and grease before replacing.
