1. IMPORTANT NOTICE
Congratulations! You are the owner of the result of a careful design and production. We
thank you for choosing our ATA2-1 telephone adapter.
It is VERY IMPORTANT that you read this manual before connecting the unit in order to
achieve the maximum operativity and a perfect operation.
We recommend our authorised Technical Services whenever any maintenance task
should be needed so that optimum operation shall be achieved.
1.1. Precautions
This apparatus must be earthed through its mains cable.
Do not expose the unit to rain or water splashes, and do not place liquid containers or
incandescent objects like candles on top of the unit.
Should any connection / disconnection task be done, always disconnect the unit from the mains
supply.
There are no user serviceable parts inside the unit.
2. INTRODUCTION
2.1. The necessity of a telephone adapter
Both emitter and receiver signals are mixed in a conventional two-wire telephonic line and
cannot be distinguished . If a telephone line is connected directly to a mixer, then the signal send to
the caller (speaker voice) will also be present at the input of the mixer ( speaker voice)
producing a coupling and , in consequence, a distorted signal.
The telephone adapter is designed to avoid this problem and must be connected between
the telephone line and the mixer.
The ATA2-1 is a two telephone lines/one output adapter. It has one hybrid adapter for both
lines. The main features of the adapter are:
An external telephone adapter can be connected.
Calls can be hold or hanged.
A call can be directly broadcasted without holding it before.
After a call has been broadcasted it can be hanged or held again.
2.2. Main advantages of the ATA2-1 in front similar adapters
1 - The return of the speaker’s voice is independent of the characteristics of the telephonic
line (quality, distance, impedance, ...) and frequency. The structure of the adapter eliminates the
resistance and capacity adjusts needed in other adapters to optimise the return for each call, with is
one of the main disadvantages of the conventional adapters.
2 - Two telephonic line capability with hold function and independent program output. Both
lines use only one mixer channel.
3 - Both lines can talk to each other when the calls are on air.
4 - Each channel has independent LEDs for CALL (8-13), HOLD (9-14) and ON AIR
(12-17).
