6.1 Introduction
The pr int se r ver is a va ila ble for T CP/I P pr inting by
Unix LP D ( Line Pr inter Dae mon) protoc ol. The LP D
pr otocol or iginated with Un ix r e leas e is base d on the BSD
ve rs ion of Unix a nd s upported under most ver s ions of Unix.
This c hapte r e xpla ins how t o c onf igure the pr int ser ver
f or T CP/I P oper ation, a nd ho w to modif y co nf igurat ion
f iles on your Unix s ys te m to a llow pr inting to the pr int
s erve r. The c onf igurat ion e xa mples in this manua l fo llo w
the s yntax f or BSD based Unix s yst e ms. P le ase ref er to the
r ela te d s ys te m documenta t ion for the c orr ect s ynta x of your
s yste ms .
To conf igure t he pr int s erve r f or LP D pr inting, per for m
the proce dures be low:
1. Enable Pr int Ser ver
