6.3 Setup Print Server

s IP Address
The pr int ser ver must ha ve a unique I P address in or der
to be r ecognized by the net wor k.
You ca n set up t he IP a ddres s on the va r ious Unix
s yste ms us ing any one of the followi ng met hods :
1. DHCP (Dyna mic Hos t Conf igur ation Pr otocol)
2. BOOTP ( Boots tr ap Pr otoc ol)
The pr int ser ver will use the la st thre e me thods to
obta in its IP ad dres s a utoma tic a ll y if its IP address is
c onf igured as Auto (0.0.0.0) .
6. 3.1 DHCP
Ther e are many Unix s ys te ms that suppor t DHCP
pr otocol, and the pr oce dur es to configure the DHCP ser ver
da taba se a re diff erent. This ma nua l does not descr ibe the
DHCP ser ver c onf igurat ion on the Unix s yste ms . It is
highly r ecommended t hat t he DHCP ser ver should be
locate d on the sa me networ k as the pr int s er ve r .
6. 3.2 BO OTP
If you ha ve the BOOTP dae mon, bootpd, running on
your UNI X s ys te m that is acces s ible by the pr int s er ve r,
you ca n us e the BOOTP pr otoc ol to set up the IP addr ess of
the pr int ser ver . We recommend t hat the BOOTP ser ver
s hould be loca ted on the sa me s ubne t as the pr int se r ver . If
you us e Net wor k I nfor mation Se r vic es ( NI S) in your s ys te m,
you ma y need to r ebuild t he NI S map with t he BOOTP
