Loudspeakers:
main speaker, centre
speaker, rear speaker
All speakers are directly connected to the
appropriate multi channel receiver
outputs by means of loudspeaker cables.
The connection terminals of ELAC
speakers are suitable for cable cross
sections of 1.5...4.0 qmm² and more.
When connecting the speakers, please
ensure, that the polarity is correct. Most
manufacturers of electronic products use
red to mark the (+) output and black for
(-). Cables that are do not provide
symbols, should not be used.
Impedance
Depending on the particular type of
speaker, passive loudspeakers of the
ELAC usually provide nominal imped-
ances of 4 or 6 ohms. Sometimes
receiver specifications provide power
handling specifications for loudspeaker of
8 ohms or more. A lot of manufacturers
design products for 6 ohms. Therefore,
some international standards prescribe
either 6 ohms or 8 ohms. ELAC
loudspeaker however, can be used with
so-called 8-ohm amplifiers, especially if
the amplifier supplies an output power of
min. 50 watts per channel (for 6 ohms
loudspeakers) respectively 80 watts (for
4 ohms loudspeakers), including overload protection, according to the standard of high-quality components.
As a general rule, the load of the amplifier is higher, the smaller the impedance of the connected loudspeakers is.
