Settings of the multi channel receiver
To guarantee perfect sound experience, the receiver menu settings have to be adapted to the loudspeaker. In this
context, please refer to the manual of the receiver to gain information on this matter. Please effect the following con-
figurations in the menu of the receiver:
•
Speakers, that are not designed to perform bass sound, have to be set at “SMALL” or “KLEIN”, according to the
menu “Loudspeaker Configuration”. If you are not sure which setting is to choose, please refer to the loud-
speaker specifications on “frequency range”. If it reaches below 50 Hz, your loudspeaker can be run in “LARGE”
mode. If the frequency range starts above 50 Hz, the setting is “SMALL”.
•
Set subwoofer in the respective menu at “YES” or “NO”.
•
Turn the subwoofer level on the receiver menu to “MAX”, and adjust the level on the subwoofer by ear later.
•
Set cross-over (if adjustable) for the “SMALL speakers” at 90...120 Hz.
Presetting of the subwoofer
Adjust the cross-over control on the subwoofer to a value of ca. 140 Hz. If due to room-acoustic influences some
frequencies stick out unnaturally later, e.g. “boom” etc., gradually decrease to 90-100 Hz. The level control should
initially be set at (O dB).
Testing
After the set-up, switch on all devices and check, if the subwoofer is working in stereo mode by using a cd, e.g.
In case the main speakers have been adjusted to “SMALL”, the subwoofer
must
transfer the whole bass-share of
the music. If not, check back on the speaker settings (Main-“Small”, Subwoofer-“On”) and control the cable connec-
tions. In case the main speakers are set on “LARGE”, the subwoofer
must not
be in action. If this is still the case,
the receiver menu probably shows the option “BOTH” and not “YES” respectively “ON”. “BOTH” should only
be applied, in case the main speakers do not transfer the bass volume sufficiently.
Setting of volume, cross-over and phase of the active subwoofer
The settings of the level control and the polarity switch for choosing the appropriate phase position depend on the
room-acoustics and must thus be found through testing. If the phase control is set at “-“, the acoustic result will usu-
ally be fine. It is advisable to choose a well-known piece of music and set the main speakers on “SMALL” (temporar-
ily), even if they had been previously set on “LARGE”. Adjust the level control of the subwoofer so as to receive well-
balanced sound without too much emphasis on the bass.
Test the polarity switch of the subwoofer in the opposite direction. Receiving more bass means this adjustment would
be ok, otherwise switch back. If the bass turns out to be too heavy at approx. 100...120 Hz, the cross-over control
may be turned down to a minimum 90-100 Hz.
Now return to the sound-receiver´s menu and re-adjust the options to “LARGE”
