Replacing the Upper Roller
Unscrew Retaining Cap from Roller Tunnel and set aside (Figure D).
Carefully pull the Upper Roller out of the Roller Tunnel.
Insert a new Roller into the Roller Tunnel with the squared end first. Lift and
turn the Roller until the squared end slips into the groove at the Handle end
of the Roller Tunnel and the Handle begins to turn (Figure E).
Screw the Retaining Cap back onto Roller Tunnel. DO NOT overtighten.
Replacement parts can be ordered from Ellison at Ellison.com/educators.

Maintenance
Cleaning Your Machine
Over time and due to normal use, the machine will become dirty or dusty. This
will happen primarily in the Storage Well underneath the Sliding Tray. To clean,
use only isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) poured onto a clean paper towel and
rub over Storage Well until it evaporates. With another clean dry paper towel,
wipe off any residue. NEVER use bleach or abrasive cleaners on the machine.
The machine DOES NOT need to be oiled or lubricated.
Keeping Dies Clean
It is important to use the Die Pick (included in the Tool Kit) to clean out the
bits of paper and other materials that build up in the joints of the dies (where the
cutting rule meets). If dies are not kept clean, the scraps will eventually push the
rule slightly apart. This cleaning is especially important if cutting thick materials
such as Flexible Magnetic Sheets, Pop-Up Sponge or Self-Adhesive Felt.
Recognizing a Worn Upper Roller
RollModel is virtually maintenance-free. To lengthen the life of the Upper Roller,
be sure to vary placement of dies on the tray. After many years of use, the
Upper Roller may become worn and will need to be replaced. If a die does not
fully cut through approved materials (see Materials Guide, pages 11 and 12),
this may be a sign the Upper Roller needs replacing.
