Verify Power Settings and Connections
•
The SPSs connect to separate power distribution units (PDUs) in the cabinet.
•
In systems with ac power, power/cooling module A in the first DAE (EA 0,
loop 0) in the system connects to SPS A, and power/cooling module B in the
first DAE connects to SPS B.
•
In systems with dc power, connect Y-shaped sense cables (sometimes called
SPS emulator cables) between each power supply, the SPS serial connector on
its corresponding storage processor, and the first DAE2 as shown below.
•
In systems with dc power, power supply A and power supply B connect
directly to separate power distribution units; dc power/cooling modules for
each DAE also connect directly to their corresponding power strips.
6. Connect the cabinet ac/dc power cords to the power outlets in your facility.
We recommend connecting each power cord to a different branch circuit.
You must
connect both power cords to appropriate power sources
. Connecting to only one power
source will degrade the system’s high availability.
Systems with dc power are intended for use in environments with redundant and highly available
power sources (for example, "Central Office" grade power within the telecommunications industry),
and dc power provided by the site must meet this requirement. The sudden loss of all incoming dc
power to a storage system may cause unexpected abnormal behavior of the storage system and loss
of write-cache data.
