SYSTEM FUNCTIONS
The available system functions for monitoring the UPS are described below.
2.1
Operator Panel
A display and control panel on the front of the UPS permits monitoring of the state of the UPS System, including
electrical measurements and possible messages.
The Panel on Operator Logic board (P/N 4550005F \ 08I) sends data out continuously over the Operator Logic RS485
serial line.
The data transmitted using a proprietary protocol includes:
Input Parameters
•
line-to-line UPS (MSS) input voltages
Output Parameters
•
apparent power
•
active power
•
frequency (Inverter and Bypass Mains)
•
line-to-line UPS (MSS) voltages and currents
(on single-phase models the voltage indicated is between phase and neutral)
•
neutral current (on three-phase models)
•
percentage of load applied
Battery parameters (applies to UPS only)
•
battery voltage and current
•
battery charge as a percentage
Temperature (applies to UPS only)
Battery Temperature (°C) (if the optional temperature sensor is being used)
•
machine status, in terms of
∗
signals
∗
alarms
•
UPS\MSS settings, in terms of
∗
UPS type (single- or three-phase)
∗
language on operator panel display
This data is physically contained in a single string which the Operator Panel sends every 1-2 seconds, or, under special
conditions, every 3-4 seconds.
2.2
Operator Logic Board with MODBUS Option
This is the centre of the entire system. It is located on the rear of the UPS\MSS Operator access door and communicates
with UPS\MSS Logic; it has a backup battery to maintain data in memory in the event of a power failure and a clock to
assign a date and time to events.
The Logic Board performs the following functions:
•
receiving data from the operator panel
•
storing data in memory
•
transmitting data upon request over the RS485 on the network using the Modbus protocol
•
extending connection for a multipoint network
