Chapter 2 Mechanical Installation 11
NX UPS Single Module And Parallel System 250kVA ~ 800kVA User Manual
(such as metallic powder, sulfide, sulfur dioxide, graphite, carbon fiber, conductive fiber, and so on), acid mist or other
conductive media (strongly ionized substances). The environment specifications should comply with relevant
international standard & specifications and the operating range (see Table 11-2) specified in this manual.
The UPS is air-cooled with the aid of internal fans. Cold air enters the UPS through the ventilation grilles in the front
of the cabinet and hot air is released through the grilles on the back. Do not cover the ventilation openings.
If necessary, install a system of room extractor fans to avoid room temperature build-up. Optional air filters are
available if the UPS is to operate in a dusty environment.
2.3.2 Battery Location Selection
Batteries generate some amount of hydrogen and oxygen at the end of charge, so the fresh air volume of the battery
installation environment must meet the EN50272-2001 requirements.
The ambient temperature of the battery must be stable. Ambient temperature is a major factor in determining the
battery capacity and life. The nominal operating temperature of the battery is 20°C. Operation above this temperature
will reduce the battery life, and operation below this temperature will reduce the battery capacity. If the average
operating temperature of the battery rises from 20°C to 30°C, the service life of the battery will be reduced by 50%. If
the operating temperature of the battery is above 40°C, the battery service life will be decreased in exponent rate. In
a normal installation, the battery temperature is maintained between 15°C and 25°C. Keep batteries away from heat
sources and ventilation holes.
A battery protective device (for example, fuse or circuit breaker) must be installed. The battery protective device
should be installed as close to the battery as possible, and the cabling distance between the battery protective device
and the battery should be minimized.
2.3.3 Storage
Should the UPS not be installed immediately, it must be stored with the original packaging in a room for protection
against excessive humidity and heat sources (see Table 10-2). The battery needs to be stored in a dry and cool place
with good ventilation. The most suitable storage temperature ranges from 20ºC to 25ºC.
Warning
During storage, periodically charge the battery according to the battery manufacturer instructions. In the charge process,
temporarily connect the UPS to the mains and activate the battery for the time required for recharging the battery.
2.4 Mechanical Requirement
2.4.1 UPS Composition
The 250kVA ~ 400kVA UPS system includes a main power cabinet and a bypass cabinet. The two cabinets have
been bolted together in factory.
The 500kVA ~ 600kVA E UPS system has only one cabinet.
The 600kVA ~ 800kVA UPS system includes two main power cabinets and a bypass cabinet. The three cabinets need
to be bolted together in the installation site.
2.4.2 Moving The Cabinet
Warning
1. The lifting equipment for moving the UPS cabinet shall have enough lifting capacity. For the UPS weight, refer to Table 11-3.
2. Ensure that adequate personnel and lifting aids are available when removing the shipping pallet.
3. It is not allowed to hoist the UPS cabinet.
