Slide the new System Manager CIP partially into the shelf.

Reconnect all the connectors disconnected per step 3 on the new System
Manager CIP and carefully slide it into position, making sure that it is fully
inserted.

Tighten the captive screw to secure the new System Manager CIP into
position.

Wait until the System Manager CIP has finished booting, then press the
“Refresh” button on the System Manager CIP for 5 seconds. All units
communicating with the System Manager CIP will flash their operational
LED for 5 seconds. The System Manager CIP will flash the Controller
Status LED while reconfiguring, and then remain steady when
reconfiguration is completed.

Close the front cover of the controller and distribution section of the
Lorain CIP shelf.

Notify the alarm center of the completion of this procedure.

Upgrading a Lorain CIP power system from a Controller CIP to a System
Manager CIP
Replace a Controller CIP by a System Manager CIP as described in the
following procedure.
Procedure 7.6 – Replacing a Controller CIP by a System Manager CIP
Step Action

Notify the alarm center of the possibility of incoming alarms during this
procedure.

Open the front cover of the controller and distribution section of the Lorain
CIP shelf.

Carefully slide the Controller CIP partially out of the shelf and disconnect
all the connectors from it, taking note of the exact location of each
connector and marking it accordingly. Refer to Figure 5.1.

Pull the Controller CIP completely out of the shelf.

Slide the new System Manager CIP partially into the shelf.

Reconnect the connectors disconnected from the Controller CIP per step
3 to the new System Manager CIP as follows:
•
connector from Major on the Controller CIP to Relay output 1 on the
System Manager CIP,
•
connector from Minor on the Controller CIP to Relay output 2 on the
System Manager CIP,
•
connector from O1 on the Controller CIP to Relay output 3 on the
System Manager CIP.

Connect any other wires as required per your specifications to the new
System Manager CIP and carefully slide it into position, making sure that
it is fully inserted.

Close the front cover of the controller and distribution section of the
Lorain CIP shelf.
