6.4. Communicating with the System Manager CIP
6.4.1. Hardware
switch
The System Manager CIP is provided with a physical hardware switch,
which, when enabled, prevents any action to be performed while accessing
the unit remotely. Read-only is then allowed. An error screen will be
displayed when clicking on a function button or in a field where to enter
information.
The System Manager CIP should be shipped from the factory with this switch
disabled. However, if for any reason this switch was enabled, proceed as
follows to disable it:
CAUTION!
Prevent damages caused by electrostatic
discharges (ESD).
This equipment includes solid-state devices sensitive to
electrostatic discharges (ESD). When relocating the hardware
switch jumper on the System Manager CIP, it is therefore
required to wear an appropriate antistatic device (a bracelet
for example) that is properly connected to a designated
antistatic grounding point (on a framework, an anti-static
floor mat or workbench mat, etc.). ESD-protective packaging
material shall also be used when carrying/shipping ESD
sensitive material.
6.4.1.1. System Manager CIP
•
Remove the System Manager CIP from the Lorain CIP power system
as described in steps 2 to 5 of Procedure 7.5 in the “Maintenance”
Chapter.
•
In the opening window of the System Manager CIP enclosure, verify
that the small blue jumper is on the lower (vertical) dual-pin connector
as illustrated by the
B
configuration in the following illustration.
•
Remove the small blue jumper from the lower (vertical) dual-pin
connector and reinstall it with one side on the left pin of the upper
(horizontal) dual-pin connector and the other side hanging loose as
illustrated by the
A
configuration in the following illustration.
Note:
Never install the small blue jumper to short both pins of the upper
(horizontal) dual-pin connector as illustrated by the
C
configuration in the
following illustration. This position is for factory testing only.
