Section 9:
PACEdge Software Recovery
PACEdge software is meant to be an open-source Linux software, which gives the user great
flexibility in adding, changing, or deleting software components. It is expected that during the
development and experimentation phases user will end up in the situation wanting to restore the
original PACEdge state.
Following is a procedure to recover back to the Factory Default software settings applicable to
PACEdge pre-installed on Emerson Industrial PCs.
Note: This procedure shows how to recover PACEdge software installation back to Factory Default,
however, if the user has entered UEFI setting menus and modified UEFI settings these will remain
as is. To restore UEFI settings to Factory Default please enter the UEFI Settings menu and choose
the recovery option in the Save & Exit page.

PACEdge Software Recovery Procedure
PACEdge software recovery on the pre-installed Emerson hardware products requires to use your
own USB stick (minimum 8 GB size) to download the applicable PACEdge Software Recovery
–
Emerson System Installation image from the Emerson support site.
Important: Performing a factory reset will overwrite all data and disk partitions. Make sure to
backup your critical data before proceeding.
Procedure:
1.
Backup all important data from your current PACEdge system onto a USB stick or another
device on the network.
2.
Obtain a USB stick (minimum 8GB large) and delete all files and directories. To reduce
potential issues with different partitions on the disc, which might not be visible in Windows
PC,
it is highly recommended to use a brand new USB stick.
3.
Download PACEdge Software Recovery
–
Emerson System Installation software from
Emerson support site to your PC, typically called EmersonSystemInstallation.<Version>.zip,
extract files from the archive, and copy them to the USB stick root directory. An example
file structure to be copied is shown in Figure 17.

4.
Power down the PACEdge hardware device, insert a USB stick and power it up again.
5.
You need to select a USB stick in UEFI mode as a boot source. To do so, right after power-
up, press and hold the F7 key or enter UEFI setup screens and navigate to Boot Options.
