Attention: Do not use Figure 58 or Figure 59 to order logs. Refer to
parts list on pages 50 - 51 and parts view on page 52 to order logs
and/or ember material for your appropriate fireplace model.
Before you begin: If you are installing logs into the DVCD42 model
then this fireplace is supplied with a set of seven ceramic fiber
logs. Do not handle these logs with your bare hands. Always wear
gloves to prevent skin irritation from ceramic fibers. After handling
logs, wash your hands gently with soap and water to remove any
traces of fiber.
The positioning of logs is critical to safe and clean operation of this
fireplace. Sooting and other problems may result if the logs are not
properly and firmly positioned in the fireplace. Please refer to
Figure
58
and
Figure 59
and corresponding WARNING when completing
following log placement steps.
1. Lower bottom louver, lift and hinge forward.
2. Release two glass frame spring clamps at bottom of firebox
3. Remove glass frame assembly.
4. Place front logs (#1 and #2) between grates and main burner.
Align notches on front logs with locator tabs in base.
5. Place rear log (#4) on rear log shelf. Bottom flange is to be
placed between the log shelf and burner tube.
6. Place middle log (#3) between front and rear loop of burner.
Note: do not place on top of pilot assembly.
7. Place right “Y” branch (#5) along side of middle log as shown
in Figure 59. Insert the pin on right “Y” branch (#5) into right
recess on rear log (#4).
8. Place bottom “Y” branch (#6) onto the middle log (#3). The
bottom left portion of the bottom “Y” branch (#6) will rest
between and slightly behind the 2nd and 3rd grates from the
left.
9. Place top branch (#7) onto rear log (#4). Insert pin on top
branch (#7) into left recess on rear log (#4). The bottom of the
top branch (#7) will rest on the left side of front log (#2).
10. Place decorative rock in front of grates and sides of main
burner.
ATTENTION
: Do not place decorative rock on logs or on burner.
The decorative rock should only be placed on the fireplace
floor.
11. After all logs are properly positioned, place small "dime" size
pieces of Rockwool lightly across the front burner tube ports.
Place the ember material (Rockwool pieces) side by side. Do
not stack more than one layer of embers across the burner
ports. See Figure 59.
12. Replace glass frame onto firebox.
13. Secure the two glass frame spring clamps at bottom of
firebox.
14. Close bottom cover. Lift slightly to engage the end tabs into
the slots in fireplace sides to close louver panel.
