The
dV55-1spp
and the
Faw55-1spp
wall furnaces when
converted to Natural Gas will have manifold pressure of 4.0”
w.c. at the valve outlet with the inlet pressure to the valve
from a minimum of 5.0” w.c., for the purpose of input adjust-
ment, to a maximum of 10.5” w.c.
iNsTruCTioNs For CoNVErsioN
1. If unit is installed, turn off gas and electric supply before
making conversion.
2. Remove thermocouple and pilot tubing from gas valve.
Disconnect gas line at gas valve.
3. Remove the eight (8) screws holding the burner assem-
bly to the combustion chamber and the two (2) screws
holding the manifold bracket to the control compartment
divider panel. Remove the complete burner assembly.
4. Remove the rear burner from the burner assembly.
5. Remove the pilot tubing from the pilot and replace the
pilot orifice with the pilot orifice
marked .018
supplied in
conversion kit.
6. Replace the pilot tubing onto the pilot.
7. Replace rear burner to burner assembly.
8. Remove main burner orifices and replace with main
burner orifices
marked 42
supplied in conversion kit.
9. Remove gas valve and replace with gas valve
marked
4.0, Vr8200C1165
supplied in conversion kit.
10. Attach thermocouple and pilot tubing to gas valve.
11. Replace and attach complete burner assembly into
combustion chamber with screws removed in Step 3.
12. Attach gas line to gas valve.
13. The converted furnace must be connected to a supply
of the conversion gas and checked for leaks.
14. The furnace must be checked to ensure it is operating
at the correct pressure of 4.0” w.c.
The burner flame and pilot flame must also be checked
for proper flame characteristics as outlined in installa-
tion instructions and owner’s manual.
Verifying input rate of Converted Furnace
The input of this furnace must be checked as follows:
1. Turn off all other gas appliances. Clock the gas meter
and determine the number of seconds required to con
-
sume one cubic foot of gas.
2. 3600 ÷ time (in seconds) = cu. ft. per hour.
3. Then cu. ft. per hour x heating value of gas = input rate
(BTUH). On installation without gas meters, check man-
ifold for proper pressure.
placement of Conversion Label
1. Conversion label R-1322 is to be placed in a location
visible when all heater panels are installed.
If furnace is not installed or warranty card has not been re-
turned to Empire Comfort Systems, Inc., check off type of
gas converted to on card. Also, indicate conversion by add-
ing “Conv.” behind gas.
