Important Checks
WARNING: Magnetic field hazard.
The pump contains powerful magnets. It’s
forbidden for individuals
who have cardiac pacemakers, defibrillators, other electronic devices, metallic heart valves, internal
wound clips, metallic prosthetic devices or sickle cell anaemia must not handle or be in proximity of the
magnets contained inside the pumps.
WARNING: Magnetic field. The pump should be assembled and dissembled in accordance with the
recommended procedures. The magnetic field is strong and will rapidly pull the impeller magnet
assembly into the drive magnet. Do not place fingers between the connecting surfaces to avoid injuries.
WARNING: Magnetic field. Keep the magnets away from metal chips and items such as credit cards,
discs and magnetic tapes inside computers and mobile phones.
WARNING: Flammable or Combustible Liquids: Please immediately consult Empire Pumps Ltd if the
solutions being transferred are flammable. The pumps detailed in this operating and maintenance
instructions cannot be used in explosive atmospheres. We have available specially manufactured
pumps for use in zoned areas.
WARNING: Hot Surfaces. Please note the maximum temperature capabilities of the pump materials. It
may be hot solutions are transferred and this can cause the outside areas of the pump to become hot
and cause burns.
WARNING: Rotating Parts. The pump has rotating components, follow local safety standards for locking
out the electrical drive motor from the power supply during maintenance and service.
WARNING: Please ensure suction and discharge valves are always open when operating the pump.
WARNING: DO NOT ALLOW THE PUMP TO RUN DRY. The pump must never be started without
solution inside the pump. If the pump is operated without solution a catastrophic pump failure will occur.
WARNING: Please follow standard lifting procedures when installing and maintaining pumps.
WARNING: Fill the pump with water or the liquid to be transferred before starting the pump unit. Always
ensure the pump is primed with solution prior to start up.
WARNING: Direction of rotation. Standing behind the pump and looking at the motor fan end, the
direction of rotation should be clockwise.
WARNING: Cold Environments. The pump must be drained of solution when installed outside or in an
environment where temperatures will drop below freezing point.
