Sampling Frequency
All Slam Stick devices are capable of measuring acceleration at various sampling frequencies. The
sampling frequency determines how often the Slam Stick takes a measurement and is
determined by the user to accurately measure the necessary vibrations & shock events expected
during use. As a guideline, it is recommended that the sampling frequency be set to no less than
ten (10) times the frequency of the vibration expected to be measured.
If the vibration frequency or amplitude expected are not known prior to use of a Slam Stick, it is
recommended that the sampling rate be set to an arbitrary value greater than 10,000 Hz on a
Slam Stick X or S, or set to 3200 Hz on a Slam Stick C or DC accelerometer. Keep in mind that high
sampling rates affect battery life expectancy. A more detailed breakdown of expected battery
