One thing to pay attention to is the gravity vector though for this accelerometer. If you set the
trigger level to 0.5g in the Z axis and the Slam Stick is sitting on a desk, it will trigger because it
reads a 1g acceleration due to gravity.
Disabling Channels
Next to the ‘Triggers’ tab in the Configuration settings window is the ‘Channels’ tab. This tab
displays the available accelerometer channels for the Slam Stick. If a channel is check marked,
that indicates that it is active on the Slam Stick and measurements will be taken on that channel.
The pressure and temperature channels are not available and this is because temperature and
pressure data are required for acceleration measurements to be calibrated. By removing the
checkbox from a channel, this deactivates that channel on the Slam Stick and no data will be
taken from that channel. This tab is also where the sample rate is set for the DC MEMS
accelerometer on Slam Stick X and S.
Figure 11: Provides an image of what this window looks like.
Figure 11: The Channels window allows the user to enable and disable different analog acceleration channels; this
is also where the DC accelerometer sample rate is set.
User Calibration Configuration
The ‘Factory Calibration’ tab located next to the ‘Channels’ tab displays the bivariate polynomials
created from the initial calibration process of the Slam Stick. These equations are how the Slam
Stick converts raw acceleration data into a calibrated form when displayed in the Slam Stick Lab
