Upgrading the Firmware
Periodically, we make bug fixes and enhancements to our Meridian II product line. The Meridian II
firmware is freely available on our website at the link shown below. You may securely upgrade your
Meridian II firmware via the HTTPS interface or the console port (network/serial).

Upgrade via the
HTTPS Interface
Software upgrades via the HTTPS interface are simple, with your choice of two methods:
1. If your Meridian II has access to the Internet, the HTTPS interface can automatically retrieve
the appropriate files from the FTP server at
endruntechnologies.com
to temporary locations on the
Meridian II. You will need to enter “root” as the user name and enter root’s password. Then follow
the prompts from the HTTPS interface to complete each upgrade as needed.
IMPORTANT
The domain name server IP address is required by the Apache web server. When using
netconfig
(see
Chapter 3 - Console Port Control and Status
) to configure the TCP/IP parameters be sure to
configure a name server. Only one name server is required but two gives some redundancy. The HTTPS
Interface will not operate properly if this is configured incorrectly.
The following picture shows the Linux RFS (root file system) Upgrade page. All fields are filled in
with the default values needed to download the appropriate firmware image from the EndRun Tech-
nologies website. You can use these default values unless you want to point to a different FTP server.
NOTE
The Meridian firmware consists of four different binary files. You may only need one or two of them. The
revision history on our website will tell you which files need to be upgraded. The firmware image files are
for the Linux RFS (root file system), the Linux Kernel, GPS Subsystem and the GPS Receiver.
