System operation
The Luba
GL collectors are designed to operate as an “open loop system”, which is to say they
pre-heat fresh air coming directly from the outside. It is not possible to operate the collectors in
recirculation mode, i.e. by having air from inside the building circulate in the collectors.
However, the Luba
GL collectors may be adapted to heating ambient air in an indirect yet efficient
manner by installing them upstream from an air heat pump or a heating unit’s burner.
Contrary to other solar heating systems, such as hot water heaters, no controls, thermostats or
sensors are needed for the Luba
GL collector system to operate: it operates when the existing
ventilation system comes on. When the existing ventilation is turned on, the fresh air from the
system enters it by passing through the Luba
GL collectors. As long as there is demand for
heating of the new air, the system operates, completely or partially, until the set point temperature
is attained. The set point temperature is usually 20ºC (68
°
C) but may vary depending on each
situation.
